What does your Slavic Lady know about "Summer of Love"? |
Every summer can become the summer of love for you and your Slavic girlfriend. But the first real summer of love with the release of the beautiful song "All Need is Love" was 50 years ago.
50 years ago, on June 25, 1967, the world premiere of the song "The Beatles" All You Need Is Love was held. The premiere was part of the first in the history of the worldwide live TV program using the unprecedented technical novelty - satellite television. And the program "Our World" was the culmination of a unique socio-cultural phenomenon, called the "summer of love."
The summer of 1967 was a summer of optimism, hope and, of course, the "summer of love". The term Summer of Love appeared shortly before that summer in April, with the formation of the so-called "Council for the Summer of Love" in San Francisco.
The Council was the first attempt to somehow formulate and formalize the youth movement that was born a few months earlier, which was called the "children of flowers", or simply "hippies".
The apotheosis of the California summer of love was a pop festival in the city of Monterey, a two-hour drive from San Francisco on the shore of the bay. Several tens of thousands listened to The Who, Animals, Jimmy Hendrix and even Ravi Shankar.
Britain was on the wave as well. April 29 in the Alexander Palace in northern London 14-hour festival Technicolour Dream took place. There were Pink Floyd, Soft Machine, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Yoko Ono were on stage. John Lennon observed his future wife from the hall.
The first open-air rock festival was held in Britain in the town of Spalding in Lincolnshire May 29.
The release on June 1 of the album "The Beatles" Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was almost the official declaration of the "summer of love."
But the culmination of "Summer of Love" is rightly considered to be the global teleconference "Our World" presenting "All You Need Is Love" song.
