10-12-16  The Sweetest Day is the Dream of Slavic Woman
Do you know Slavic ladies are the greatest fans of sweets and chocolates? They enjoy eating something sweet and they’re good at cooking the sweets. Pies, cakes, cookies and other sweet stuff are much loved by Slavic brides. Thus, being in the USA they feel really happy celebrating this holiday.

The Sweetest Day is celebrated on the third Saturday of October annually. This tradition was born in Cleveland in 1922, when Herbert Kingston, philanthropist and candy factory worker, decided to help orphans, the poor and all those who have bad times. Kingston put together a small group of people and they organized the distribution of small gifts.

During the first Sweetest Daya movie star Anne Pennington gave the 2200 Cleveland newspaper boys sweet gifts in gratitude for their work. Another major film star Theda Bara gave 10 thousand boxes of chocolates to Cleveland hospital patients and all those who came to see her film at the local cinema.

Initially, The Sweetest Day was celebrated mainly in the central and western parts of the US - in the states of Illinois, Michigan and Ohio. In recent years the festival has grown considerably in popularity, and now it covers the United States and other regions, particularly the north-eastern part of the country.
